Sin Talk Around God's Throne!

Rev John Greene

For some time now, I have thought about why Jesus died for sin. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, "For He hath made Him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him." I've wondered why Jesus would take the time, effort, the pain and humiliation of becoming a man! This Scripture has a glimpse of sin's horror. Sin is the reason that He came to earth. Sin is the reason that He suffered and died the inhumane death of crucifixion.

Sin needed a perfect sacrifice! Sin demanded a pure and holy response from God, so His Son said, "Father, I'll be born of a virgin, and I'll die the cruel death on Calvary, pay with My life the cost of sin!" The Holy Spirit probably said, "I'll come down on Pentecost to anoint the truth: 'Jesus died for sin'! I'll reveal Jesus, the only Way to heaven, His salvation free to all men that will repent of their sins accepting Jesus as their Lord." The Father said, "We want man to love Us because they want to love Us, NOT because We have made them to love Us!"

Why are so many people convinced that sin is exaggerated, that God causes everyone to enter heaven, that sin is just a word? How can we trivialize what Jesus has done for anyone who will believe it? Romans 6:23 says, "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." God condemned sin; when His Son died and rose again from the dead, He paid for death's sting.

Why do we tell people that they are saved when they have never repented of their sins? Good question to ask!! As ministers, we are accountable to God to tell the truth as He wrote it, NOT as we want to use. How can we encourage church, but never tell people the truth? Who are we?

Think about the Word of God for a minute! God's love doesn't get you into heaven. Prayer doesn't get you into heaven. Jesus' blood doesn't get you into heaven. None of these things by themselves can get you into heaven! When we repent of our sins (I know that you're not going to want to hear this, but you must forsake your old nature, your sin life of the past!), Jesus' blood now washes away our sin and we are made white as snow! We repent through prayer because the Holy Spirit causes godly sorrow for our sins; God's love makes available salvation!

Sin deceives; sin destroys; sin is destined for the lake of fire. There is absolutely nothing trivial about sin, where it is going, or where the person in sin will end up. Sin brings earthly consequences and an eternal destination. Jesus didn't think sin was unimportant.

How trivial is your sin? Do you genuinely expect that you're going to heaven with all that sin in your life? Stop! Think. God loves you, but He won't make you love Him! This subject is so important that we must continue it next week. Does your pastor tell you the horror of sin and its final judgment? Most ministers tell people that they are okay!? Are you positively okay in your sin? See ya' next week!
