Once upon a time there were three roofers. Two were wise, one was foolish. All three were hired by a farmer to work on the roof of his barn in the middle of nowhere. They were working and the wind blew the ladder down. One of the wise roofers told the others that they needed to look around to see if there was any place at which they could get down. Each man went in opposite directions to scout around for a safe passage to the ground.

15 minutes later the two intelligent roofers came together and neither one had found a way down. Then they heard a voice from the ground and the two roofers rushed to the edge of the roof. When they got to the edge they saw that the foolish man had gotten down.

When they asked the foolish guy how he had gotten down, he answered, "Well it was easy, I just jumped in that pile of cow manure over on the north side of the barn.

Both of the smart guys said in unison, "You did what?"

The reply was, "Oh don't worry it was only up to my ankles."

"Well I'm not so sure it would be safe, but we have no other choice."

When the two smart roofers jumped in, it was up to their ears!

When they began to yell at the foolish man for lying to them, he said, "You did it all wrong! You were supposed to jump in head first!"
