Halloween
by John Greene
1 Cor 10:14-33 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. ¶ I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he? ¶ All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth. Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake: For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof. If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake. But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof: Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience? For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
2 Cor 6:16-18 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Eph 5:6-11 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Of all the holy-days that the Catholic church has given us, this one is the no-brainer for any half-brained Christian. The idea of making fun of Satan and his cohorts which consist of demons, goblins, witches, warlocks and all the rest is just plain compromise.
The Druids, ancient Celtic priests, believed in ghosts, elves, and fairies all evil spirits that could harm you and your communities. They devised a series of symbolic gestures and some more profound deeds to hold back the terror of Satan and his henchmen from taking over their towns. They celebrated a festival called Samhain which was a fall festival.
The Celtics had their observing of times and necromancy as they called the dead back to discuss things even to the point of setting up places they were from as haunts for their remainder of life in the spirit realm.
Many other pagan beliefs were tossed into their celebration. They had drunken orgies that ended in sacrificing an animal to Satan. This progressed into what most ignore, but is more serious, human sacrifices. This is a revisitation of the old Canaanite practices of sacrificing their children in the fire for their gods like Molech and Milcom.
As the centuries went on, cultures did to this holy-day as they did with all the others by adding their own deeds and practices. A man named Jack from Ireland was attributed to be sentenced a life of death and limbo in the spirit realm walking the earth but not really being in a body. People started to set candles in pumpkins at the edge of their town limits to keep him out.
Romans celebrated their fall festival to their goddess, Pomona, the fruit tree goddess. They would do much the same as others at harvest time, but they added their drunken revelries and orgies.
The Catholic church came up with a day they set aside that honored those they had declared saints. This they called all saints day and was on November 1st. If you think about the natural progression, the night before is the evening and if you add that it was a day to hallow, you come up with hallow evening or what we call halloween.
The Reformation movement started in my opinion, not by coincidence on 31 October 1517, a day when Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the Wittenburg church door. If we celebrate anything at all, it could be Reformation Day. This day the followers of Martin Luther were in protest of the evil and deliberate iron fist the Catholic church had held the church world in for centuries ever since Constantine combined paganism with lukewarm Christianity.
Of all the Old Testament Books, I find Ezekiel to be the most moving and interesting. Rarely is it taught or discussed in churches because most people feel that it is like the Book of Revelation. Ezekiel was written about 2500 years ago, but is all about today's world! When taken literally, kept in context, and compared with history, it becomes clear and very dramatic as we realize that he deals with the 20th and 21st century! Ezekiel sees the "mystery of the church" that Paul writes about in Ephesians Chapter 5 where Jesus is The Bridegroom and the church is His bride.
Then He brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord's house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz. Eze 8:14 KJV. Encyclopedias tell us that Tammuz was the son of Nimrod's incestuous marriage to his mother, Semiramus. This was during the time of the Tower of Babel when God confused the languages and organized "religion" began.
Moses was given tablets from God that we know were the 10 Commandments. "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me" is one of those Commandments! Ezekiel explains the church worship of their idol, Tammuz, and captures the horror of the disgusting practices of the church. This is adultery!
One might ask, "Is it true that the church still worships idols?" Yes, but we tell everyone that it is harmless and in fun! "Can it be fun?" It sure can. You might say, "We don't worship idols in our church!" You may because Halloween is the beginning. For fun, we dress up like demons, devils, ghosts, Freddie Krueger etc. all because we want to have fun. Soon, we'll look like Santa, his elves, and reindeer!
What is worship? It is placing the glory, honor, and limelight on a person, place, thing or idea. This is one reason why it is idol worship with Santa Claus and Halloween. There are many other reasons. We aren't worshipping God. We are worshipping gods!!
On October 31st, 1587 AD, Martin Luther protested the Catholic practices by nailing to the Wittenburg church his "95 Theses"! His followers were called "Protest + ants" or Protestants. Study God's Word for yourself and let God bless you with His truth, bathe you in His love, and protect you from the evils of this world. Amen!!
Anyone can see that halloween not only associates with evil, but it is evil. It is Satan's highest un-holy day. More human beings die on the altar of Satan this day than any other day. Many babies are born for this purpose. There is no fun in halloween. It means death and evil and again should be a no-brainer.
