Let's Have a Revival From the Pulpit to the Pew!
Rev. John R. Greene
Attitude, a word, but more than a word, it is a condition of the heart. Jesus told us that the abundance of our hearts contain attitudes. This in itself wasn't bad, yet He made clear that it is the wicked feeling that corrupts a man. An attitude of the heart makes a man dirty.
Bitterness is such an attitude. Bitterness will eat like cancer and consume a person mentally, emotionally, even becoming demon possessed.
Deuteronomy 32 tells us bitterness comes from sin. However, Jeremiah 4 exposes bitterness as our disgust of sin's physical outcome! Consider the homosexual with aids and the smoker with emphysema, both bitter because of a deadly disease, yet most of them blame God for their affliction.
Bitterness will also come from the guilt of sin, and from the rejection of God's way of handling that sin as Paul tells us in Romans 3.
Ephesians 4 says that bitterness is a part of the old man, and therefore must be repented and replaced with Jesus and the new man. James 3 says that bitterness manufactures pride. In Acts 8, bitterness generates deception, and ultimately, back in James 3, will produce a false wisdom that comes from the pit of hell.
Hebrews 12 tells us that bitterness will cause us to sell out Jesus, and Acts 8 reveals how it creates false disciples that attend church and believe that they are going to heaven.
According to James 3, where bitterness is located, you'll find envy, strife, confusion, and every evil work. Romans 3 says that cursing, deceit, destruction, and misery are all companions of bitterness. It even states that there is no (reverential) fear of God in bitterness.
Nothing good can be found in bitterness, yet our churches are full of bitter people. BUT, these people deny their bitterness. Why are our churches dead? Bitterness! What is stopping revival? Bitterness!
Face the challenge of the century with repentance. Confess bitterness to Jesus. Resolve that bitterness is a matter of the past, and be free in Jesus' name! Don't let bitterness keep you from heaven or stop your county from genuine revival. Bitterness is defeated in Jesus' name!
Perhaps, It has been racial bitterness that has stopped revival! Coming in October is an all community and all denomination revival. Let's all repent and experience revival! Amen? Amen!! Be blessed this week!
