Are You Married??!!
Rev. John R. Greene
The centuries have passed by as time does, and we people think ourselves to be scholars in God's precious Word!! We use a calculated system that we design, and we take our own opinions to interpret God's Word. We have used man's knowledge to understand God's Word. If we would just take His Word as He wrote it, we would not be so disillusioned. We may even smile because we have accepted Jesus rather than forcing Him to accept us! You know what I'm talking about!
Hey, come on now!! You know that you have wondered why one person believes one thing and someone else another! You have questioned God as to whom you should believe!! Think for a moment, when you hear some teaching or doctrine and test it out, you know reluctantly you want to believe it but aren't quite sure and WHEN it doesn't happen the way you believe it, you begin to get discouraged, maybe disillusioned. You may even at some point have said, "God, if this is Who You are, all confusion and contradiction, then I'm going to believe something else!"
Paul told us in 1 Corinthians that God IS NOT the author of confusion! It is the devil. We're told that God IS love by John! Then who killed all those people in the Old Testament? The devil!! If God is so good, then why does He let the homeless be homeless or the little children to be abused or the hungry to starve? Jesus did tell us that His Father, would take care of life. BUT, He must be OUR Father!!
Before the heavens were created, Jesus was betrothed to His bride by the Father Who had arranged the marriage. This is the Middle Eastern custom of "marriage arranging by the parents"! It is OUR Father's intention that all that would be born in this world would be saved!! When we grow up and mature into a person, we must consummate the marriage. The betrothal, although binding, wasn't binding until the Groom had prepared a place to live, and supplied all that he and the bride would need for their lives. Meanwhile, the bride must commit herself, her life to the groom and will present the proof of her virginity and her purity to her groom!! Jesus is returning for His bride who is spotless and white!
John 14 tells that Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us. Revelation tells us that Jesus is coming back quickly for a holy bride, and NO ADULTERER will make heaven their home. As men and women, we must choose what to do with our lives upon this earth. This, we do with action or by forfeit! The woman that stands at the altar must say, "I do" to be married to the groom. Even this woman may say no to the marriage, and I might add that in today's mixed up world many do say, "NO!!" This week, I would like you to think about marriage, fidelity and love, and next week I will conclude the thoughts that God has given me about our Groom, Jesus! May Jesus richly bless you this week!!
