The Lord's Anointed

The Lord's anointing truly begins with our Example of One who exemplifies His anointing, Yashua haMashiach, Jesus Christ. The grace of God is extended to His people in order that He may accomplish through His anointing that He pours out on His called, His chosen, His ministers of grace for the purpose of doing His will and His business. The anointing that a prophet did in the Old Testament upon a king was one example of showing the call of a person by God. This example alsoe showed that only the prophet was called of God to anoint with the authority and power of God in the Old Testament. We now understand that the apostle, the one sent by God such as Paul, Barnabas, Peter, Timothy and others have been given this authority to anoint. However, this is not the complete story because God also anoints with the Holy Spirit the one called and obedient to His call. God calls and God anoints and we should be more respectful of God and those whom He has anointed.

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Jesus quotes the Isaiah passage and Luke tells us what Peter reveals about Jesus, God anointed Him with the same Holy Spirit as He anoints His called today, the same power that Jesus had by the Holy Spirit is the same power that we have. The problem that we have is sin separates us and cuts us off from the Lord, and we walk around in doubt, skepticism, and discouragement because someone told us that the Holy Spirit and His gifts aren't for us today. I think I will believe God, and I am thankful that I have, and He has anointed me to do His will. People will be Pharisaic just as they were to Jesus. They will stone us just as they did Stephen and Paul.

Hebrews 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

1) anything smeared on, unguent, ointment, usually prepared by the Hebrews from oil and aromatic herbs. Anointing was the inaugural ceremony for priests

The Lord wants our prayer lives so alive and anointed so that He is able to smear the Holy Spirit all over us, to do His will, be vessels for His glory, to preach the Word in His anointing and power, to have those gifts of the Spirit operating through us so that the Lord may bring more people into a right relationship with Him. Oh I want to get ever closer to Him, to be smeared with His Spirit, to have the fragrant arooma of His presence in my life, to be a vessel He is able to use any place He speaks to me to obey His voice. I want His anointing to be more powerful than yesterday. I have observed over the last few years that the more time I spend in daily prayer, the more I fast for Him and desire His life and character to be imprinted on my heart, the more I humble myself and desire for me to decrease and Him to increase, the more powerful the anointing becomes. Isaiah 10:27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

Psalms 18:50 Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

Psalms 20:6 Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.

Psalms 28:8 The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

Psalms 45:7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Psalms 84:9 Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.

Psalms 89:20 I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:

Psalms 89:38 But thou hast cast off and abhorred, thou hast been wroth with thine anointed.

Psalms 132:10 For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.

Psalms 132:17 There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.

Isaiah 45:1 Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;

Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

The bottom line is rather simple. Who are we to argue with God's call and God's choice. Do you tear to shreds your pastor? well given the attitudes that I have seen towards those who walk in the Lord's call, I am sure that you probably do much harm concerning the Lord's anointed, your pastor. It is obvious that you don't believe anyone should have any spiritual authority over you because of your pride and arrogance. Only you know what is right in the Word, so only you can tell yourself what is correct, and should you decide that you want to attack a pastor or prophet or apostle, you will because you are just questioning. You have lied to yourself removing the blessing of God with your justification for doubting and skepticism. Just remember that what God has anointed and is His, and you decide that you don't believe it and rail against His anointed, you are in the same area as the Pharisees who said Jesus was casting out demons by the devil, and Jesus said that was blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. I would be careful, ever so careful.
